The Conservative Party had won the most number of seats with 316, having lost 11 seats compared to the previous election and is thus short of 10 seats needed for an overall majority. The Labour Party gained 29 seats compared to previous elections, coming in at 261 seats. The Scottish National Party kept 35 seats despite losing 21 constituencies. The Liberal Democrats and Democratic Unionist Party both won more, with 12 seats and 10 seats, respectively.
