Leading spirit brands in the Philippines
The Ginebra San Miguel gin accounted for almost half of the spirit market in the Philippines in 2022, making it the leading spirit brand in the country. Known for its white bottle and logo using the image of St. Michael the Archangel painted by national artist Fernando Amorsolo, Ginebra San Miguel established its name in the hard liquor market as early as 1834. In 1987, it was acquired by San Miguel Corporation, which helped the brand reach domestic and international customers and expand its liquor portfolio to include GSM Blue as well as Vino Kulafu. Ginebra San Miguel Incorporated also produces and sells distilled spirits in Thailand.
Spirit consumption
The Philippines has a vibrant drinking culture, with spirits as the second most consumed alcoholic beverage in 2021, next to beer. Perhaps because of its price, spirit consumption in the country was not expected to beat beer in the following years, which was forecast to reach about four billion liters in 2027.
