Citizenships of human trafficking victims in Nigeria 2014-2019
Nigerian citizens made up the majority of human trafficking cases with over 6,500 victims from 2014 to 2019. This represented around 92 percent of all cases. In the second place were victims of Beninese origins, which made up roughly four percent of the cases with 279 victims reported over the same time period. Togolese victims came in the third place with 114 cases registered. Less frequent victims had Nigerien, Ghanaian, Libyan, Burkinabe, or other citizenships. For around 65 victims, the citizenship of the persons could not be identified.
