Over the years, the number of persons entitled to vote in Sweden increased, corresponding with a general population increase. In 1973, the number of entitled voters amounted roughly 5.7 million. In 2022, there were nearly 7.8 million people entitled to vote in the Swedish parliamentary election. Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) elections are held every four years.
