Greenhouse gas emissions produced by the transportation sector in Canada totaled over 150 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2021. This represented an increase of nearly five percent in comparison to the previous year, when transportation-related emissions dropped due to the COVID-19 outbreak and its associated restrictions.
