Freedom of expression score in Mali 2000-2022
In 2022, Mali scored 50 in the Global Expression Report (GxR), a slight drop from 51 points in the previous year. The country's GxR score last peaked at 72 points in 2011 but declined as a result of state fragility and political tensions. In 2020 and 2021, the country went through two different successful coup d'états. A higher GxR score indicates a more open society with greater freedom of expression.
