Number of COVID-19 vaccine doses received in Africa 2022, by source
As of January 2022, Africa received a total of around 497 million doses of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. Most vaccine doses, amounting to nearly 267 million, were received through the COVAX initiative led by the United Nations. Bilateral agreements between countries procured approximately 179 million doses, while around 29 million doses were received in Africa through the African Union’s African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT).
