Between July 1 and September 1, 2021, container ship congestion at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as at the ports of New York and New jersey, increased. On September 1, 2021, about 35 container ships were waiting outside the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, more than double the amount of ships waiting on July 1, 2021.
