Change in output of select industries in France 1929-1938
From 1929 until 1938 (the onset of the Great Depression and the year before the Second World War, respectively), the French industry saw a significant change in its structure. As was the case in Britain, France saw a drop in its output of raw materials, such as iron and coal, in favor of prioritizing the production of manufactured goods.
